For Immediate Release (Vancouver, BC) September 10, 2012.
As of September 30, 2012 the J Peachy Gallery, will no longer actively pursue commercial sales. High studio rent costs and cost of living for a Visual Artist in Greater Vancouver and the economic systems in place through the debt based economy and have made the pursuit of a working artist virtually impossible. In addition, significant investments of time and dollars made into the community have not come to fruition to me economically.
I truly appreciate the support everyone has given me, I have learned a lot along the way and made many connections through my art practice. I have other projects and ventures I am moving forward with, which will be revealed in time. This does not spell an end to creativity, but merely a conscious abandonment of a system that is failing my personal situation and many others around me.
I have made personal changes in my life that have reduced my consumption and thus be rest assured that all obligations, financial and social will be met with creditors.
J Peachy
PS: All remaining inventory will be available on a donation or pay what you can basis.

About J Peachy
I am a contemporary outsider artist that believes in the healing properties of the natural environment. I paint landscapes in abstract as an expression of my connection with nature and its ability to provide me peaceful inspiration. As organisms on this earth I believe we are interconnected with nature and highly interdependent.
But as the psycho-social environment we live in today gets ever increasingly complex its effects on us are becoming more pervasive, corroding and sophisticated. However the energy, peace and serenity of our natural surroundings can provide a way of grounding our senses and healing our minds. I try to capture the interrelationship between my mind and nature as I see and feel it; it’s an expression of my soul captured on a physical medium and in a point in time. Going through the process in itself contributes to balance.
Driven by my own lived experience, I am a self proclaimed arts-based advocate for mental health and strive to demystify and eliminate stigma around these issues. My initiatives in this regard include being the Vancouver Caucus leader for the Artist Alliance for Mental Health, a collective member (2010) of the artist-run Gallery Gachet in Vancouver and the Producer and Host of Sound Therapy Radio a peer oriented mental wellness show on CJSF 90.1 FM. I have a true belief in human potential and in the statement; ‘art is a means for survival’.
Okay Jay – give me the Coles notes version – not selling art anymore – is that what this means? If so, do you still have that black and white sketch on canvas that was at last Fingerling Festival?
P.S. How the heck are you!!!!
Patty
indigenous would call this a form of transformation, pick an animal of your choosing.
I never though I could be bought out, so why would I play the game that is totally dependent on having individuals sell out their obligations to common sense and compassion.
Here’s an inspiration…
